Recipes for Success: Quick, Easy, and Healthy

We all know how important nutrition is, but taking the time to fill our bodies with healthy, nutritional food can seem unsurmountable with the holidays coming soon, not to mention easy access to fast food, including frozen food, full of harmful ingredients.

Before you reach for that pre-Thanksgiving slice of pumpkin pie, or a basket of burger and fries, I ask you to consider other alternatives, especially for youth involved in sports. For kids who are looking for fitness for softball or fitness training for baseball, these three healthy, gluten-free options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner will give you the energy and nutrients you need to stay in the game - and win!

They're all gluten-free and super healthy so eat well and train hard with these easy recipes.

Breakfast

Begin your day with a healthy, gluten-free breakfast of two eggs, two rice cakes, and a banana smeared with peanut butter. This easy breakfast will give you the energy you need for Tampa baseball fitness training.

Lunch

Get going after lunch without feeling groggy with this easy turkey breast sandwich on two pieces of gluten-free whole grain bread and a slice of goat cheese. On the side, add a handful of corn tortilla chips, 1 cup of berries, and a half cup of hummus to dip a few carrots in. This will give you the energy you need to keep going strong.

Dinner

For dinner, get your protein with 6 ounces of grilled salmon, one baked sweet potato, half a cup of peas, and 8 ounces of low-fat milk . This recipe is packed full of protein and other nutrients and minerals your body needs to stay fit and active.

Snack

In between meals, you made need a snack. If your tummy is grumbling and you're feeling weak, here is a wonderful gluten-free snack that is easy to make and easy to eat - even on the run.

The ideal snack between meals is a fruit smoothie with 8 ounces of non-fat Greek yogurt and 1 cup of strawberries or other berries you happen to love, like blueberries, raspberries, or blackberries. Yum!

The Bottom Line

Your performance on the field is dependent on a number of factors, one of which includes your diet. Have fun and enjoy the festivities of the holiday season, but try to keep the sweets and treats to a dull roar. Remember, to reach maximum results as an athlete, I recommend you also eat like one!
